OBD-II · Engine and powertrain (P)
P2003
DPF efficiency below threshold bank 2
What it means
Same as P2002 but for the second particulate filter (bank 2), which only exists on some larger engines. The computer judges that this filter is not trapping soot as it should.
Symptoms
- engine warning light
- sometimes reduced power (limp mode)
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | split, disconnected or blocked pressure sensor hoses for the bank 2 filter |
| 02 | faulty bank 2 pressure sensor |
| 03 | cracked or damaged bank 2 DPF |
| 04 | exhaust leak before the filter |
What to check, step by step
- 01Confirm the engine really has a second DPF and which sensor serves it (wiring diagram).
- 02Read live pressure data for both banks and compare.
- 03Inspect the bank 2 pressure hoses and look for exhaust leaks.
- 04Check for soot at the bank 2 tailpipe, then test the sensor before replacing the filter.
