OBD-II · Engine and powertrain (P)
P0106
MAP/barometric pressure range/performance
What it means
Pressure readings do not match throttle position, rpm, or expected boost/vacuum.
Symptoms
- reduced power or limp mode, especially on turbo engines
- hesitation or uneven running
- higher fuel consumption
- engine warning light
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | oil or soot fouled sensor or blocked port |
| 02 | boost leak |
| 03 | vacuum leak |
| 04 | sticky EGR valve |
| 05 | weak turbo control |
What to check, step by step
- 01With the key on and the engine off, compare the MAP reading with the barometric reading: they should match closely
- 02Remove the sensor and check the port and tip for oil or soot deposits
- 03Pressure- or smoke-test the intake and boost hoses for leaks
- 04Check that the EGR valve and turbo control respond correctly
- 05Replace the sensor if readings stay implausible
