P0105
MAP/barometric pressure circuit fault
What it means
The manifold pressure or barometric sensor circuit signal is invalid. Blocked ports and leaking pressure hoses are range/performance concerns (P0106).
Symptoms
- reduced power or limp mode, especially on turbo engines
- hesitation or uneven running
- higher fuel consumption
- engine warning light
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | failed MAP sensor |
| 02 | open or shorted signal wiring |
| 03 | corroded connector terminals |
| 04 | sensor ground fault |
| 05 | ECU reference voltage fault |
What to check, step by step
- 01Inspect the MAP/boost sensor connector and wiring
- 02Check the 5 V reference, ground and signal at the sensor
- 03Compare the key-on, engine-off reading with local air pressure (about 100 kPa at sea level)
- 04Clean the sensor tip of oil or soot deposits, or replace the sensor if the wiring is good
