Camshaft position sensor A range/performance bank 1
What it means
The camshaft sensor A signal on bank 1 does not match the expected pattern compared with the crankshaft signal.
Symptoms
- longer cranking before the engine starts
- rough running or reduced power
- engine warning light
- sometimes stalling
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | stretched timing chain or jumped timing belt |
| 02 | faulty camshaft sensor |
| 03 | damaged trigger wheel |
| 04 | electrical interference or poor ground |
| 05 | low battery voltage during cranking |
What to check, step by step
- 01Inspect the sensor connector for oil, corrosion and broken pins
- 02Check the supply voltage, ground and signal (with a scope if possible)
- 03Compare the camshaft signal with the crankshaft signal and check cam/crank deviation values
- 04Check the trigger wheel and the mechanical timing if the sensor and wiring are fine
- 05Replace the sensor if it is faulty
