U0184
Lost communication with radio
What it means
Another module has stopped receiving messages from the radio / infotainment unit.
Symptoms
- Radio or screen blank or rebooting
- Steering wheel buttons or phone connection not working
- Often no effect on driving
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | aftermarket radio fitted without the correct CAN interface |
| 02 | radio removed or unplugged |
| 03 | weak 12V battery or battery recently disconnected |
| 04 | blown radio fuse |
| 05 | failed radio / head unit |
What to check, step by step
- 01Check whether an aftermarket radio or interface has been fitted
- 02Check the radio fuse and 12V battery
- 03Check whether the radio answers a scan tool
- 04Check the radio connector and CAN adapter behind the unit
- 05If the radio was removed on purpose, update the module coding so other modules stop looking for it
