OBD-II · Engine and powertrain (P)
P2263
Turbocharger boost system performance
What it means
Boost pressure does not follow what the engine computer asks for - it could be too high, too low or too slow to respond.
Symptoms
- loss of power, often limp mode
- engine warning light
Likely causes, most likely first
| No. | Cause |
|---|---|
| 01 | boost leak (split hose, intercooler, loose clamp) |
| 02 | sticking variable turbine vanes |
| 03 | boost control solenoid or electronic actuator fault |
| 04 | vacuum supply fault |
| 05 | boost pressure sensor fault |
| 06 | exhaust restriction (blocked DPF) |
What to check, step by step
- 01Compare requested and actual boost in live data during a road test.
- 02Inspect and pressure-test boost hoses and intercooler.
- 03Check turbo actuator movement and the control solenoid.
- 04Check the boost sensor against atmospheric pressure with engine off.
- 05Check DPF load.
